Vernon Downs has instituted a roughly 20 per cent purse increase over the last two weeks, according to director of racing Scott Warren.
"Due to fewer races being carded and a purse account surplus, we want to reward the horsemen who have been here the whole meet and supported our program week in and week out," said Warren.
Open events have been bumped up from $9,000 to $11,000, while first-level purses have increased from $2,500 to $3,100. Similar increases have been made across the entire condition sheet as well.
