Mike Boughton Passes

Trot Insider has learned that Mike ‘Mike the Barber’ Boughton passed away peacefully on Monday, July 30 at Milton District Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was 72.

Predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Leeni. Father of Marlene (Doug) Corrigan and Tammy (Dave) Boughton. Proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Carly and Ryan. Brother of Bryan, Bob (Joanne), Donna, Dave (Kelly) and Cathy (Bill). Also remembered by the 17 in-laws in the deBruyn family and many nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends.

Mike was the owner of Mike's Barbershop on Main St. for 50 years; served three terms as Ward 2 councillor for the Town of Milton and was the founder of Golfing for Cancer, raising over one million dollars in support of transportation for cancer patients and their families.

He was a proud member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 136, was voted Businessperson of the year in 1994, Citizen of the Year in 2000 and received the Lifetime Achievement award in 2011.

Mike will be remembered for his Christmas Eve visits as Santa Claus amongst many other works of community service and for his love for the people of Milton.

Visitation and service has taken place.
