Vic Hayter Memorial Race, Event Details

Plans for a memorial race and an event for the late Victor ‘Vic’ Hayter have been announced.

On February, 23, 2016, Victor R. Hayter passed away after a short but unsuccessful battle with pancreatic cancer. During his 77 years on this earth, Vic was passionate about his business and his family, but something that also held his passion and stoked his generosity was animals.

Vic was an avid lover of not only his horses and the racing community, but also his beloved cocker spaniels. On several occasions, if the weather was not too hot, he would love to bring them with him on his weekly ventures to Clinton Raceway. Vic’s charity of choice was an easy one, as he was always a big believer in the Humane Society and the work it does. Vic was also a large contributor to the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society, not only with financial donations, but also with a horse or two. It is with all of these components that Vic's family has endeavoured to put together this day in his honour. Encompassing family, horses, his favourite charity together to commemorate his name and continue his legacy.

The Vic Hayter Memorial Trot and fundraiser will take place on Sunday, July 24 at Clinton Raceway. Family, friends and race fans are invited to purchase Pineridge Beef BBQ tickets for $15 with 100 per cent of the ticket sales being donated to the Stratford - Perth Humane Society as well as the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society.

Raffle tickets are also available for $5 each. Prizes include one night with breakfast and dinner in the Chairman's Suite at the Four Points Sheraton London; one room/one night with dinner and breakfast at the Best Western Plus Arden Park Stratford; one room/one night with dinner and breakfast at the Four Points Sheraton London, and chicken & rib dinner at Clinton Raceway for 12 people.

The $12,500 Vic Hayter Memorial Trot will be the highlight of the 10-race card and the day will also feature a silent auction and 50/50 draw.

Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Clinton race office at 519-482-5270 and arrangements are currently being made for a bus to attend the event from Stratford, with possible stops in Mitchell and Seaforth.
