Woodmere Ideal Art Looks For Repeat

Published: July 24, 2020 04:37 pm EDT

After finishing out of the picture in both his Governor’s Plate events, Woodmere Ideal Art came back with a vengeance last week at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway and will look for more this Sunday afternoon (July 26). First post time is 1:00 p.m.

Woodmere Ideal Art is the morning line favourite in Race 11, the $2,650 feature race on the 12-dash program. Robert Laffin will again steer Woodmere Ideal Art this week for trainer Sifroi Melanson and owner Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, N.B. The former stakes star was an east open-length winner in 1:56.4 last week after failing to make the Governor’s Plate final and then finishing seventh in the consolation.

Mystery Phil has been very impressive this season on P.E.I., with an unfaltering top-three record from five outings. Adam Merner will be above the wheels of the Melissa Rennie trainee from Post 2. JK Express is on top of his game and is a top choice from Post 4 with Brodie MacPhee at the lines for trainer Jason Hughes, who has elected to drive Jeb from Post 5.

The Backstretch Beat in Sunday's program places Woodmere Ideal Art as the one to beat.

“Woodmere Ideal Art crushed his foes in his latest. He draws into some deeper company this time but it’s not like he isn’t used to it. The price is sure to be short but he certainly deserves it.”

Open pacing mare Collective Wisdom has rail control in the featured pace, with Gilles Barrieau handling the driving chores for Ron Matheson. Post 6 belongs to former Maritime Champion Heart And Soul with Walter Cheverie at the lines after Barrieau subbed in for a 1:55.4 victory last Sunday at the Prince County oval.
