The 2023 Atlantic Classic Yearling Sale is set to be another phenomenal event as final entries have drawn a total of 152 yearlings consigned from across Atlantic Canada coming to the Crapaud Agriplex in Crapaud, P.E.I.

The 2023 edition will have some new features as the event will have a dedicated yearling preview showing of 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5 for potential buyers to view the upcoming stars of Atlantic Canadian harness racing. The sale will kick off at a new start time of 11:30 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 6 to allow buyers to get their new acquisitions home and settled before a busy Atlantic Breeders Crown Weekend.

The glorious event in 2022 saw new record gross sales chiming in at $1.89 million for a $15,007 average. This year’s deep catalogue sees entries from a vast array of Atlantic Canadian pacing and trotting stallions, along with entries eligible to Sires Stakes programs in New York, Ohio, Ontario, Pennsylvania and Indiana.

“The sheer quality of the yearlings being consigned in 2023 shows the exceptional commitment from Atlantic Canadian breeders in growing the business to new heights,” said Atlantic Classic Sale Chair Nicholas Oakes. “The lineup we have along with the exciting new format for the 2023 edition are the makings of another thrilling day for Atlantic Canadian harness racing. Myself and the rest of the dedicated group on the Sale Committee are excited to see everyone in Crapaud for what is sure to be a packed house.”

A printed sale preview will be available in early July once hip numbers are finalized along with preliminary TrackIT pedigrees on PEIharnessracing.ca. The final sale satalogues will be available in mid-September.

Consignors are reminded that it is mandatory that all yearlings be on site by no later than 2 p.m. on Oct. 5 and ready for inspection by 4 p.m. for the yearling preview.
