The New York Sire Stakes roll into Tioga Downs on Friday night featuring three divisions for three-year-old colt and gelding trotters

.

Headlining the entries on Friday night is Royal Shyster, who was purchased for $450,000 at the Harrisburg Sale in November by William Weaver III and Jim Winske for trainer Noel Daley. He will make the second start of his sophomore campaign in the third and final NYSS event for $44,266 in race nine. George Brennan will make the trip to Nichols, New York to drive the colt, who is listed as the 3-1 morning line favourite.

In the second division (Race 6) Jim Morrill, Jr. will handle Archangel for trainer and co-owner Peter Arrigenna. The son of Credit Winner finished second in last year’s NYSS final behind Royal Shyster and then went on to finish second in his Breeders Crown elimination later in the year at Woodbine. Archangel leads a field of seven trotters as the 5-2 morning line favourite.

Delano and Ray Schnittker look to be the heavy favourite in the first division slated for race three on the twelve race card. The son of Credit Winner–Kelly Hall still holds the track record for two-year old colt trotters at Tioga Downs from his impressive 1:55.2 win last year. The duo have been given the nod as the 2-1 morning line favourite from post position two despite making breaks in two of his three qualifiers this season.
