The 1995 Hambletonian winner Tagliabue was put down on Sunday (May 15) at the age of 30, according to his owner, Jules Siegel.

Unraced at two, the son of Super Bowl-Double Coverage had five wins and five seconds in 13 starts as a sophomore, banking $869,600. Tagliabue’s biggest moment came when he scored in 1:54.4 in the $1 million Hambletonian final for trainer Jim Campbell, driver John Campbell and owners Arlene and Jules Siegel.

Tagliabue also won a $117,550 Zweig Memorial division and was named Three-Year-Old Colt Trotter of the Year in the Dan Patch Award balloting.

Tagliabue won two of five races as a four-year-old and lowered his mark to 1:53.3. He retired with career earnings of $904,600.

He stood 12 seasons at stud in Pennsylvania and his offspring banked more than $18.2 million.
