If you're in the Maritimes and you want to meet Bob 'Hollywood' Heyden, here's your best chance.

Heyden, well known as the Meadowlands Racetrack's statistician and handicapper, will be the guest speaker at the Prince Edward Island Standardbred Horse Owner’s Awards Banquet.

The banquet will take place Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Dutch Inn Cornwall.

"We are delighted that Mr. Heyden is able to be with us for our event," said PEISHOA President Dr. Colleen Dickie. "Bob is one of the most knowledgeable commentators in harness racing, and we look forward to hearing his views on our industry. "

Heyden will be inducted into the Communicators Hall of Fame for Harness Racing this summer, and has also been awarded the prestigious Dan Patch Award from Harness Tracks of America as well as the United States Harness Writers Association Presidents Award.

The event will start with a reception at 6:30 p.m., with a meal to follow at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available from PEISHOA Board members, Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and the Charlottetown Veterinary Clinic.

Heyden will also be participating in several other events that weekend, complete details will be released soon.

WEG, are you listening, there's no better way to promote the sport than to have analysts such as Bob Heyden and Ron Waples to share their insights. You could also include (the greatest driver/trainer, ever, on the WEG circuit) Doug Brown.

Those P.E.I. harness racing fans and participants, are in for a real treat.

Wow! The good people of PEI have no idea how honored they should be that Bob Heyden is willing to leave NJ for their event - he never goes anywhere.
