Details have been released for the 2017 edition of the ever-popular Horsemen's Hockey Tournament, slated for Sunday, April 30.

"With a wide array of industry participation and sponsorship, this year's event will no doubt entice every hockey enthusiast out to the player draft and again to the day-long tournament on April 30," co-organizer Jody Jamieson told Trot Insider. "WEG has already signed on as a sponsor and as we wait to hear from other associations throughout this industry we can't help but be excited for the coming events."

Every player intending to play in the tournament must register before the draft at this form to be able to play in the tournament.

"The same eight captains will once again try to build rosters that will ultimately be crowned Horsemen's Hockey Tournament champions," noted Jamieson. "That honour was achieved by Team Saftic in the 2016 edition and there's little doubt Team Saftic will want a repeat!"

The draft will take place on Sunday, April 16 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Mohawk Inn Conference Room, two weeks out from the day-long tournament on April 30 at the Cambridge Sports Park.

To join in the fun at the draft, organizers will be offering food and drinks for the cost of $20 per person

"Feel free to join us, as the draft provides some of the most entertaining moments of the tournament festivities," said Jamieson.

The entry fee for the 2017 Horsemen's Hockey tournament is $50 per person. This fee gets you three games guaranteed, special dressing room items and lunch/dinner when your games are complete.

Anyone wishing to volunteer for the tournament is asked to contact Jody Jamieson and/or Curtis Macdonald on Facebook or Twitter

"We will need timekeepers for all games so please join in the fun and volunteer!"

Please be advised that there a few rule changes this year, pertaining to shootouts. Jamieson indicated that organizers will make note of the changes to those in attendance at the draft and again before the start of the tournament.
