Preferred Equine Online A Popular Ticket

With its first three online mixed sales now in the books — including the just-concluded March 28 sale — Preferred Equine Online has now accounted for more than $1.7-million in transactions.

Five of the horses sold in the first two online sales have already won for their new owners, including Derf Hanover, who’s now taken impressive, back-to-back scores in the upper trotting classes at Woodbine-Mohawk for Triple S Equine and trainer Gerard Demers.

“I expected our new online sales venture to be well-received, but thus far it’s actually exceeded expectations,” said sale manager David Reid. “Each sale has been a win-win for both buyers and sellers, and the feedback we’ve received has been nothing but positive.

“Our goal was to create an avenue for commerce that complements live mixed sales, and to do so in a professional manner and on a frequent basis. These online sales give owners the chance to sell at the most opportune time, and as well all know, when quality horses hit the marketplace, buyers are lined up.”

The March 28 sale, which included three stallion shares, one breeding, two racing or broodmare prospects and 19 racehorses, grossed $588,100, with the racehorses and racing/breeding prospects averaging $27,238.

All 25 lots offered were sold.

The sale was led by four horses that sold for $76,000, $56,000, $48,000 and $48,000. The top two sellers were both consigned by Preferred Equine Online as agent for Sara Baillargeon.

Topping the sale at $76,000 was the four-year-old Somebeachsomewhere racing and breeding prospect Blonde Onthe Beach, a stakes winner with a mark of 1:51.4f who’s from the immediate family of millionaires If I Can Dream and Western Terror. She was purchased by Diamond Creek Farm.

HP Napoleon p,4,1:49.3, the next-highest seller at $56,000, went to the Weaver Bruscemi partnership, who bought two racehorses in the sale. The six-year-old gelding has been racing successfully in the upper conditioned classes at Woodbine Mohawk Park and has lifetime earnings of more than $284,000.

Preferred Equine Online’s next three mixed sales — each two weeks apart — are scheduled for April 11, April 25 and May 9. Those wanting to enter racehorses, broodmares, stallion shares or seasons for the next sale may do so now at preferredequineonline.com.
