Hanover Shoe Farms is pleased to announce the addition of 2021 Hambletonian winner Captain Corey to its 2022 stallion roster.

A magnificent-looking, long-striding son of Googoo Gaagaa out of the Angus Hall mare Luv U All, Captain Corey is a former a $150,000 yearling purchase who blazed on the scene in June of his two-year-old year by trotting a last quarter in :26.3 in his very first qualifier and then reeling off five straight pari-mutuel wins including the PaSS Final at Pocono Downs in 1:53.3.

As a three-year-old, in addition to his victories in the Hambletonian Elimination and Final, Captain Corey captured a PaSS leg, the Earl Beal Memorial and the Consolation of the PaSS. From 14 total lifetime starts, Captain Corey won 10 times and was second twice amassing $1,090,333 in earnings. He took his lifetime mark of 1:51 at the Meadowlands winning the Hambletonian and would equal that 14 days later in the Earl Beal Memorial at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

“Captain Corey is a striking individual with a gorgeous, efficient gait. He simply overpowered his competition from his first lifetime start right until his untimely last career start in September. I am confident he will pass on his good looks, precociousness and raw ability to his foals. He is, of course, an outcross to the vast majority of mares in both North America and Europe and we are quite intrigued by him carrying one quarter pacing blood as there have been several standout horses in Europe as of late that have both pacing and trotting genetics. Hanover will be buying a significant percentage of Captain Corey and be breeding a large book of high-quality mares to him,” said Dr. Bridgette Jablonsky.

The initial service fee for Captain Corey has been set at $8,500, and Captain Corey will be syndicated. For the terms of the syndication please call or text Dr. Jablonsky at (717) 578-7395, email her at [email protected] or stop and see her at the Hanover Consignment at the upcoming Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg.
