The Central Ontario Standardbred Association (COSA) is encouraged by the November 18, 2018 interview of Jim Lawson, Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) CEO in Harness Racing Update.

In his interview, Mr. Lawson discussed several positive aspects to help horse racing:

  • The commitment by board of directors to WEG’s mission of supporting and growing horse racing.

  • The $6 million expansion of the Mohawk Park paddock.

  • The plan to be self-sufficient by 2022, not relying on government funding.

“We are actively involved in the development of plans for the paddock expansion as well as future racing plans.” says Bill O’Donnell, president of COSA. “We are very interested in continuing to work with WEG to strengthen harness racing for the benefit of horse owners, breeders, drivers, trainers, caretakers and the many support people in our industry.”
