‘Vegas’ Back In To Go Saturday

The Meadowlands Racetrack will be bursting with action and activities this Saturday night. The racing will be fierce, as some really competitive fields have been put together. There are several higher-class conditions and three divisions of the popular ‘Racing for G-Notes’ short series.

Vegas Vacation gave a really good account of himself in his very first start at the Meadowlands last week, as he finished a good second to a razor-sharp Bettors Edge. He actually drops down a class for Saturday’s tilt, but it'll not be an easy stroll, as several formful foes – including a raging Rockin Robert from the rail, Reuben Brogden N off the layoff, and the always-dangerous National Seelster – will be awaiting him in Saturday's second race. Jimmy Marohn Jr drives ‘Vegas’ for trainer Andrew Harris.

There's another division of that same class in Race 11, and Calvin B (to be driven by Corey Callahan) appears to be the horse to beat. He's always done well over the mile course for owner Delores Smiel and trainer Heidi Rohr and is rounding into top form. Pansformative appears to be a danger from his inside post, and Mattamerican should move forward off a no-chance spot at Yonkers Raceway.

The evening’s top class is a $15,000 condition pace (Race 7), which will feature a field of nine really nice horses that match up really well. Doctor Butch has been installed as the slight morning line choice over Ontario Success and Hillbilly Hanover. ‘Butch’ is the kind of horse everyone would like to have, as he has grinded out a few hundred thousand every season for owner Kenny Jacobs and trainer Linda Toscano. Marohn will be performing the driving duties behind Doctor Butch.

All the standard horizontal guarantees are in place with the largest pools in all of harness racing and free program pages are available for the Late Pick 4.

Off the track there will be a chili cook-off with a ‘people's choice’ element so you can taste and vote, too. The ‘Own A Horse’ sign up will end on Saturday, so get that done right away! Trackside dining is available in Pink.

Racing will begin at 7:15 p.m.
