Hanover Shoe Farm President Jim Simpson announced today that the book for trotting champion Donato Hanover is now full and closed.
He joins Well Said among the Hanover stallions with full books.
“The fact that both of these horses have strong and loyal syndicates is not coincidental,” Simpson said. “In today’s economy with fewer mares being bred, it surely helps a horse to have a strong base of breeders supporting him”
Donato Hanover’s first foals are two-year-olds in 2011. They were greatly anticipated as yearlings and were well received, with 11 of them, including seven of the 10 highest priced trotting colts, bringing over $100,000 at auction. Perhaps more importantly is the fact that the early training reports from his first crop have been extraordinary. Whether they are based in the south or north, most trainers have been enthusiastic in their praise for them.
Well Said has had full books almost from the day his syndication was announced. His first foals are expected to arrive throughout the 2011 foaling season. It is expected that his phenomenal good looks, together with his matchless pedigree and superb racing record will enhance the expectation that he will be the logical successor to his sire the incomparable Western Hanover.
