Longtime horseman and farrier Gordon Harvey Kerr of Goderich, Ont. passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Alexandra Marine & General Hospital, in his 84th year after a recent finding of cancer.
Gord is survived by his children Brian Kerr (Sheila), Brenda German (Corrie) and Kevin Kerr (Allison), and his grandchildren Matthew, Lauren, Meagan, Brandan, Wyatt and Alyssa.
Gord was a devoted Standardbred horseman, accomplished in his career as a well respected farrier far and wide including at both Western Fair Raceway and Clinton Raceway.
Gord was known to pull up a trunk in the barn to talk about his passion for horses. You could count on him for giving sound horse advice, recalling the specifics of a race, laughing at a good joke or indulging his sweet tooth.
At Gord’s request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society.
