Longtime horse person Wendy Eileen Small passed away on Thursday, Jan.12, 2023 with her beloved family by her side at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital after a short brave battle with cancer at the age of 62.

Wendy had been a long time mutual clerk for the Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG), formally known as The Ontario Jockey Club (OJC) working for them for almost 30 years. She was an avid standardbred racing fan and could always be found in the grandstand of the racetrack cheering on her husband Larry who she owned multiple horses with throughout the years.

Family was the most important thing to Wendy, and she was always dedicated to organizing and bringing everyone together from planning birthday celebrations and vacations to backyard barbecues. She was the glue that kept everything together, and she always made everyone feel at home.

Wendy will always be lovingly and forever cherished by her husband of 33 years Larry, her children Shannon (Brent), Tyler (Lina), Eric (Katelyn), Kyle (David), and her grandchildren Cole, Caiden, and Hadleigh. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her sisters, Patricia (Johny), and Sharrie (Gary), as well as her numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends and family members. She is now reunited with her parents, Fred (2021), Dorothy (2022), and her brother David (2007).

The family will receive visitors at J. Scott Early Funeral Home, 21 James St., Milton, Ont. (905-878-2669) on Monday, Jan. 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. A reception will precede interment at St. John's Nassagaweya Anglican Church Cemetery, 10009 Guelph Line (at 10 Side Road). If desired, memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation would be sincerely appreciated.

For those unable to attend the funeral in person, a Zoom link will be posted to the Early Funeral Home website.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the friends and family of Wendy Small.
