Landing on the front, Sicario went coast to coast to take the $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot at Flamboro Downs on Saturday (Sept. 26).
Taking command from post 4, Sicario faced little pressure through early fractions of :28 and :57.3. Bastiano, parked from the start, slowly advanced towards the leader nearing three-quarters in 1:26.4. However Sicario turned away the challenger into the final turn and strode to a one-and-a-quarter length win in 1:56.2 over Irish Thunder with odds-on favourite Esquire third.
A five-year-old gelding by Holiday Road, Sicario won his fourth race from 20 starts this season and his 21st from 82 overall, earning $193,467. Richard Moreau trains the $4.50 winner for owners Pamela and John Hehn while Brett MacDonald sat in the bike.
