Historic Win For Arch Madness

With his win in the Credit Winner last Friday at Vernon Downs, Arch Madness became the richest Canadian-sired male trotter of all time, as well as the richest performer sired by Balanced Image

.

Trained by Trond Smedshammer for New York-based Marc Goldberg and Barry Goldstein's Willow Pond LLC, the five-year-old Balanced Image - Armbro Archer gelding now sits second on the list of Canadian-sired trotting performers with only the great Peaceful Way have earned more on the trot.

Arch Madness is truly a statistical rarity - a Hall Of Fame stallion's richest performer coming from his final crop when active for nearly 20 years at stud.

"He was bred in 2003, when Balanced Image was 25 defying all conventional breeding theories," co-owner Goldstein told Trot Insider, who continued to state that the double O'Brien winner's short-term schedule might not be making a stop at Kentucky's Red Mile for Grand Circuit week.

"We'll give him a few days in the paddock and then decide on Lexington. He's been in training for at more than nine months, and while it didn't work out the way we hoped, we want to have him at his best next year at six."
