A new meet kicks off at Flamboro Downs this Sunday evening (Sept. 3) with nine races and National Caretaker Appreciation Day events highlighting the opening day program.

Brett MacDonald, who led all reinsmen with 70 wins at the winter-spring meet, will look to return to the Flamboro winner's circle after driving across the Ontario Peninsula from an afternoon competing on Clinton Raceway's season finale. Among his seven mounts, MacDonald will partner with 37-time winner Sicario from the stable of top trainer Richard Moreau in the $9,000 featured trot. Sicario has drawn post two and is the 3-1 third choice on the morning line behind Sea Can (PP4, Scott Young, 8-5) and Esquire (PP1, Colin Kelly, 9-5).

Flamboro Downs will host live harness racing four days a week through Dec. 31. Throughout the month of September, racing will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Flamboro will then drop Tuesdays and add Wednesdays to its weekly schedule for the last three months of the year. However, Flamboro will be dark on Sunday, Dec. 24. Post time will be 6:35 p.m. except for Sundays when racing will begin at 6:55 p.m. Click here to view Flamboro's complete racing schedule for 2023.
