A busy August stakes season has resulted in new leaders in both the COSA Fantasy Stable and TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable contests.

In the 2020 COSA Fantasy Stable Contest, which focuses on select Ontario-sired two- and three-year-olds, Dan Davis of Peterborough, Ont. holds a slim lead with the calendar turning to September.

Bolstered by horses including Tattoo Artist ($385,900), Bet On Becky ($150,833) and HP Royal Theo ($127,000), Davis' Team Davis stable sports a bankroll of $1,617,795. Davis' stable is a mere $5,000 ahead of Glenn Scargill's Torbay Stables ($1,612,537) with Amanda Riley's TALBK Stable ($1,593,902) just off the leaders in third.

The COSA Fantasy Stable Contest, which has prizes for the top 20 finishers, and carries a Grand Prize worth approximately $4,000, runs from June 26, 2020 through the end of the OSS Super Finals on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Brought to you by the Central Ontario Standardbred Association, and administered by TROT Magazine and Standardbred Canada, the fantasy pool is based on the total earnings of a selected group of Ontario sired two and three-year-olds, ten percent (10%) of the OSS earnings from four groups of sires, and five percent (5%) of OSS earnings from four groups of trainers and drivers.

Jenn Jacoby of Charlotte, N.C. was fourth in the TROT Magazine Fantasy Stable contest at the start of August but a strong month has propelled her to the top of the leaderboard. With horses like Tall Dark Stranger ($1,005,131), Gimpanzee ($567,392), Hypnotic AM ($346,254) and Manchego ($243,671) leading the way, Jacoby's Jenn's Jets Stable sits just shy of $3.5 million for the top spot. Sandra Mowry's Mowrystable ($3,456,104) and James Ling's Luck Of The Irish stable ($3,445,514) aren't far behind heading into a massive Grand Circuit stakes weekend at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

The TROT Fantasy Stable Contest is based on total earnings of selected horses and five percent of the earnings of selected trainers and drivers between June 19 and Dec. 31, 2020.

For the purposes of the fantasy bankroll, the winners (horses only) of the 2020 Breeders Crown Finals will each receive a $200,000 contest bankroll bonus. Also, in the two-year-old categories, contestants were allowed to select two horses.

At the end of the year, the winner of the contest will receive entry into and travel to the 2021 World Harness Handicapping Championship, a prize valued at (approx) $1,300.
