Tall Drink Hanover Rallies To ‘Great Lady’ Win

In a stretch drive that resembled something from the Wild West, Tall Drink Hanover avoided all the commotion and came away with a career-best clocking of 1:51.2 for driver Andrew McCarthy and trainer Tony Alagna.

Tall Drink Hanover was in no hurry in the early stages of the mile, spotting the leader double digit lengths at the quarter pole. It was Prescient Beauty who threw down the :27.3 opener before taking a backseat to Quebec Blue Chip in the backstretch.

Quebec Blue Chip hit the half in :55.2 and she proceeded to lead the way to the three-quarter pole in 1:24.1. Warrawee Ubeaut was first-over and pressing the leader, and she eventually worked her way to the lead. In deep stretch, however, she bore in badly and collided with Quebec Blue Chip. Tall Drink Hanover, who grabbed cover around the final turn, avoided the incident and kicked home in :26.3 to win by 2-3/4 lengths over Prescient Beauty in 1:51.2. Rounding out the top five finishers were Odds On St Lucie, Carousel and Art Lecture.

Alagna Racing LLC, Marvin Katz and Riverview Racing share ownership on the two-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous-Take Into Account. The four-time winner pushed her earnings over $100,000 with the victory.
