Pocket-sitter Arrakis came rolling for the lead late to emerge best of a three-pronged photograph in the $13,000 Preferred 2 Trot on Sunday (Aug. 8) at Georgian Downs.

The nine-year-old Federal Flex gelding stalked a tempo of :27.1 and :57 set by Serenity Cruise before watching as pressure came calling overland. Esquire advanced uncovered after the lead passing the half and pressed the leader into a backside sprint, clocking three-quarters in 1:24.4.

Serenity Cruise started to give way to Esquire around the final turn while I Got The Looks, poised second over, came looming wide for the drive. Room opened for Arrakis to scoot into contention late to make a three-horse charge to the line and snag a nose advantage on I Got The Looks in a 1:55 mile. Esquire finished a neck off the winner in third with Darkangeldesbois F finishing another length behind in fourth.

Owned and trained by Francis Guillemette, Arrakis won his sixth race from 13 starts this season and his 23rd from 186 overall, earning $389,904. Bob McClure piloted the $10.60 winner.
