The 64th edition of the historic Gold Cup and Saucer, presented by Atlantic Lottery, is just around the corner and race fans will be in for a preview of some potential trial starters in the Saturday evening feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has a 14-dash presentation on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. with the McWade Race Night 2023 Pace serving as the $3,800 Preferred 1 feature.

Repeal Or Replace comes to P.E.I. and gets post three in the featured pace for new owner Perry Burke of Grosse-Ile, Que. Trevor Hicken trains the So Surreal six-year-old with Myles Heffernan Sr. getting the call to drive. The 23-time winning pacer recorded a lifetime best of 1:50.1 in his last start at Northfield Park in Ohio.

David Dowling will sit behind the Colin Johnson-trained Rockabilly Rebel N from post six as the pacer ships in to P.E.I. in hopes of capturing the $100,000 Gold Cup and Saucer scheduled for Aug. 19. Brad Grant of Milton, Ont. co-owns the son of A Rocknroll Dance with Ecurie Csl of Sorel-Tracy, Que. Rockabilly Rebel N's last start was a second-place finish in 1:49.4 at Hoosier Park in Indiana.

Summerside track record holder Roll Em has post seven in the field for trainer/driver Marc Campbell fresh off of a 1:51.3 track record-tying performance at Truro Raceway in Nova Scotia.

Bee Two Bee (pictured above) won this class last week for trainer/driver Jason Hughes in 1:51.4 and gets post two on Saturday.

Ys Mathis has rail control with Corey MacPherson picking up the drive from the Campbell stable.

Twin B Tuffenuff, a second-place finisher to Roll Em his last two starts, will leave from post four for driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Ron Matheson.

Stash It Away rounds out the field in post five with Ken Murphy in the seat for trainer Kevin MacLean.

The "Post Time Picks" like Bee Two Bee to win again: “What a smashing debut Bee Two Bee made last week wiring a good group in a snappy 1:51.4. Slides into post two and Hughes will have him well spotted, so we won’t be shocked if he wins again.”
