Blue Ivy Prevails In Meadows Open

Blue Ivy roared from the pocket through the final turn, outkicked Crisp Mane and captured Wednesday’s $17,600 Filly & Mare Open Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Blue Ivy beat Crisp Mane to the point from post seven, but when her rival persevered outside, Blue Ivy yielded to the pocket for Aaron Merriman. The breather paid off as the five-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous-All Blue was much fresher in the lane, defeating Crisp Mane by a half-length in 1:51.4. All Day Sunshine completed the ticket.

Bill Bercury trains Blue Ivy, who won for the 28th time and lifted her career bankroll to $468,395, for Renee Bercury.

Tony Hall, Aaron Merriman, Dave Palone and Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. each enjoyed a double on the 12-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday, first post 12:45 p.m.
