After a one-week break, live harness racing returns on Fridays at Hippodrome 3R with a 10-race twilight program on Sept. 1 starting at 4 p.m.
There are co-feature events for both the trotters and pacers on Friday.
The fifth race trot features Kenogami Courage starting from the inside post for driver Stephane Brosseau. The three-year-old Lookslikeachpndale filly is getting in a final prep before she competes in her $65,000 Breeders Trophy Series final on Sunday, Sept. 10. Trained, co-bred and co-owned by Jean-Francois Reid with his wife Marie-Claude Reid, Brosseau and Maurice Houle, Kenogami Courage has two wins this season, a record of 2:00.4 and a 2:01.2 triumph in the series.
She will take on return winner Lorenzo, from post three, for driver Mario Lachance and trainer Martin Bedard. Two weeks ago, Lorenzo scored in 2:01 and has won two of his last three starts.
Timonier will start from the outside post eight for driver Pascal Berube. Trained by Daniel Martin, this three-year-old gelding is also prepping for the Super Sunday Finals at 3R next week and, while winless in nine starts this year, he was a game second in the series in his last start, timed in 2:00.
The race favourite is Goaltender, starting from post nine in the second tier, for driver Marie-Claude Auger and trainer Andre Champagne. The six-year-old gelding has two wins this season -- the fastest in 1:59.3.
The fourth race pacing feature spots three return winners in the field but the race favourite is not one of them. That honour belongs to trainer Gina Bragagnolo's Windsun Cheyenne in post one with driver Pascal Berube. Two starts back, he was able to wire the field at 3R in 1:57.2.
The three return winners in the field are: the Nancy Auger-trained CL Big Beach (post three), who won in 2:02.4 on the Quebec regional fair circuit; Twomacsonemach (post six), a 1:59 winner at 3R for the Stephane Hubert stable; and Flash Tothe Finish (post eight), who also won on the Quebec fair circuit for conditioner Louis-Philippe Turcotte.
