Colin Kelly put the pedal to the metal early with Beach Moment in Monday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace, and the Blake MacIntosh pupil went the distance en route to posting her second consecutive victory.
The four-year-old daughter of Control The Moment-Beach Bretta powered to the top from Post 3 and had the field chasing her through fractions of :27.1, :56.4 and 1:25. She then used a :29.4 closing quarter to win by 2-3/4 lengths over Heavens Showgirl A in 1:54.4. Stonebridge Drama took home the show dough.
Sent off as the 6-5 favourite, Beach Moment improved her 2022 record to 5-3-3 from 23 starts with the win. The 10-time winner, who is owned by MacIntosh and Hutt Racing Stable of Malvern, Pennsylvania, lifted her lifetime earnings to $122,930 with the triumph.
