Stabbing At Woodbine Racetrack

Trot Insider has spoken with Jane Holmes, Woodbine Entertainment Group vice president, Corporate Affairs, in regard to a stabbing which occurred this morning at Woodbine Racetrack

Holmes told Trot Insider that an individual was stabbed in the stable area of the track. "No Woodbine employee or customer was involved in the incident," Holmes said.

Only WEG employees and individuals licensed by the Ontario Racing Commission are allowed in the stable area, located in the track's backstretch.

Holmes told Trot Insider that 23 Division of Toronto Police Services is now handling the investigation.

A report by citytv.com states that the victim was stabbed three times and police believe that the incident occurred at roughly 7:30 a.m.

The citytv.com article states that security guards at Woodbine Centre -- the shopping mall located on the north side of Rexdale Blvd. -- apprehended the suspect.
