Easy Again upset previously unbeaten Sweet Lou to highlight Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action on Wednesday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs

.

There were three stakes divisions held at Pocono for two-year-old colts and geldings on the pace, with purses ranging from $79,662 to $80,662.

Sweet Lou came into the night with five wins in five lifetime starts and appeared to be in charge with his usual front-running style. But he lost some momentum on the last turn, allowing Easy Again, trained by George Teague Jr. and driven by Montrell Teague, to come up alongside. The two dueled in the stretch before Easy Again prevailed by a nose in 1:52, the fastest time out of the three Sire Stakes divisions. Mudslide came on for third.

In the night’s first Sire Stakes division, All Week scored his maiden win with a long first-over grind. The colt had hit the board in his previous four starts without a victory, but that all changed as he got by Mc Attaboy in the final strides to win by a neck in 1:52.4. Corey Callahan did the driving for Joseph Hundertpfund Jr. Maytime Terror picked up third.

Star Recruit staged a furious rally on the inside to capture the night’s final Sire Stakes split. With Jim Morrill Jr. in the bike, Star Recruit, who has now won four of eight lifetime starts for trainer Bruce Riegle, zipped by Cold Hearted Shark to win by a neck in 1:53.1. The Zachhammer finished 3rd.
