The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, in conjunction with the Meadows Racetrack & Casino, supported the track’s Mini-Relay For Life on Thursday evening (August 23) to benefit the American Cancer Society.

At 7:00 p.m., horsemen representing more than 40 stables joined forces with racetrack and casino employees to begin two-hours of walking around the 5/8 mile track. Keeping with the tradition of other on-track events, the Meadows gate car led the field to the start.

More than 300 people took part in the event, which also featured a silent auction for charity. In all, more than $6,000 was raised, including a matching-funds donation from The Meadows Racetrack & Casino.

During and after the walk, a DJ kept the crowd entertained, and a luminary ceremony followed the on-track festivities.

“We were pleased to see so many of our horsemen come out and join forces with racetrack and casino personnel for this event,” said MSOA President Rich Gillock. “It was a great way to bring everyone together for a great cause.”
