Gostreet returned to Georgian Downs on Saturday and rallied from the backfield to win the featured $15,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Trot
Two weeks ago on August 8, Gostreet prevailed at Georgian in the Preferred event for the ladies, but faded to seventh at Flamboro Downs on August 16.
Tonight, the five-year-old mare trained and driven by Lyle MacArthur got away seventh from Post 4 as Lady Gambler (Mike Langdon) set up shop on the front-end. Gostreet moved into the outer flow after a :28.1 first quarter and remained in seventh position, fourth-over through the remaining splits of :59.1 and 1:28.1. Using a :28.1 final frame, Gostreet rallied from six lengths off the lead in the stretch to prevail by a half-length in 1:57.4.
Jtlady Strong (Jonathan Drury) raced first-over to finish second and Lady Gambler was third.
For Gostreet, the win was her 13th in 24 seasonal starts and 21st of her career pushing her earnings to $242,858. The daughter of Angus Hall-Rose Street Jewel is owned by Linda Wellwood of St. George and Tammy Aspden of Caistor Centre, Ont.
