This summer, track record miles at The Track On 2 have seemed almost a weekly occurrence. On Wednesday (Aug. 21), Triple Action ($4.70) etched her name in the Lacombe, Alta., record books with a 1:55.4 mile in the $5,000 distaff feature.
David Kelly put the eight-year-old Brandons Cowboy mare in play from the outset, and the pair sprinted clear from post 5 to control splits of :29.2, :58.4 and 1:28.3 while shaded by Take On Da Boys (Nathan Sobey) throughout. Triple Action unleashed a :27.1 closing quarter in the long Track On 2 homestretch, defeating Take On Da Boys by 4-1/2 lengths while Ucia Hanover (Brandon Campbell) finished third.
Trainer Lance Ward owns Triple Action, now a 24-time winner.
