The Light Speed collected his second win in a row in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday (Aug. 20) evening.

Guy Gagnon took his trainee to the gate in post five in the feature class of five pacers. Day Delight (Marie-Claude Auger) zoomed off the gate to take the lead and The Light Speed was parked second on the outside as they passed the opening panel in :27.1. Still caught on the outside, The Light Speed eventually took over the lead as the timer at the half read :55. Gagnon and The Light Speed finally found their place in front on the rail and took the field to the three-quarters in 1:23 before moving to a 1-1/2-length victory in 1:52.1. Day Delight took second and Dylans Bank (Stephane Brosseau) was third.

Michel Nolette owns The Light Speed as the five-year-old gelding moved his seasonal record to 11-4-1 in 16 starts with $73,575 earned. In his career, The Light Speed has had 39 trips to the winner's circle to go along with $283,454 banked. He paid $2.10 to win.
