P L Notsonice ($2.30) and driver Ridge Warren easily captured the featured $12,500 Winners Over Handicap Trot at Tioga Downs on Friday, Aug. 18.
Creekside Pete (Corey Braden) was first to the quarter in :28, but P L Notsonice went right on by with a circuit to go. She led to the half in :56.2 and was well in control going down the backstretch to three-quarters in 1:25.1. As the field made the turn for home, P L Notsonice found another gear and opened up 5-1/2 lengths before hitting the wire in 1:53.4. Creekside Pete was second best and Knight Angel (Tyler Miller) finished third.
PL Notsonice is a six-year-old mare by Kadabra, owned by Elite Harness Racing LLC and trained by Steven Brabrook. The win was her fifth this season from 20 starts and she now has 24 career victories.
Mike Merton drove three winners on the night. Warren and Miller both had driving doubles.
Live harness racing returns on Saturday, Aug. 19 with a 10-race card starting at 6:15 p.m.
