Leafs Coach To Attend Sudbury Rally

The Sudbury Provincial PC Riding Association will be hosting a rally in Northern Ontario on Monday, August 27 in support of the local and provincial equine and agricultural industries.

Those interested in horses and agriculture are invited to attend the “Dalton! Hold Your Horses!” Rally to help fight the province's decision to end the profitable Slots at Racetracks program.

“By breaking the Slots at Racetracks program, McGuinty and his Liberal MPPs would rather replace our time-honoured and successful rural traditions with shiny casinos that are owned and operated by our friends south of the border," former PC candidate Paula Peroni was quoted as saying in a Sudbury Northern Life article. "Yet again he’s backing the wrong horse with this decision and we want to send a strong message to him at Queen’s Park from right here in the north on behalf of all Ontarians.”

The demonstration will be held at Robertson's Training Centre, located at 152 Bonin Road in Azilda, Ont., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include a family barbecue, pony rides and horse-related demonstrations.

The rally is sponsored by the Sudbury Provincial PC Riding Association, Northern Ontario Horsemen Association and Robertson’s Training Centre. MPPs France Gélinas, Vic Fedeli, Garfield Dunlop and Lisa MacLeod will be in attendance, along with Toronto Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle.
