Adare Castle stood her ground late and dug down deep to win another Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series event Monday evening at Grand River Raceway.

In rein to James MacDonald, Adare Castle was parked and pressing tempo-setting Saundra to the quarter pole in :27.3.  Adare Castle muscled past that foe in the backstretch, and went on to lead the field through middle panels of :57.1 and 1:27.

It was an all-out sprint to the line in the final quarter, and Adare Castle’s :28.4 closing kick was enough to earn her the triumph by three-quarters of a length over Saundra in 1:55.4.  Mischevious Rose took home the show dough in the $156,300 affair for three-year-old trotting fillies.

Trainer Mark Etsell shares ownership on the daughter of Muscle Mass-Pacific Edge with Robert Newton, Graham Hopkins and Peter Porter.  It was the third straight win for the stakes star who now boasts a 5-1-0 record from six starts this season.  The 12-time winner pushed her lifetime earnings to $848,074 with the victory.
