Saunders Finding Success Outside Suit

Trainer Bruce Saunders went from hopping into a suit and tie daily to snapping tack together before most wake, but after years of post-secondary study and a government desk job he has been quoted as saying, "I was in no rush to put a coat and tie back on."

Saunders' comments come via an article on northjersey.com, where the resident of East Rutherford, New Jersey discusses his career training standardbreds, which has been brought into the spotlight more than ever over the past year due to the emergence of the speedy Rocknroll Hanover colt Rock N Roll Heaven.

"I had always enjoyed the sport from the other side as a patron… but I never envisioned at any time I'd be doing what I'm doing now," Saunders said.

"He's (Rock N Roll Heaven has) learned he's a pretty special horse," Saunders explained.

"He's got that mischievous look in his eye… he wants someone to play with him so he can bite at you."
