After holding on for a narrow score in an OSS Gold Series elimination one week ago at Mohawk Racetrack, Peach Martini returned to the Campbellville oval on Thursday and flogged her female foes when the big money was on the line

The daughter of Striking Sahbra-Armbro Martini did all the roadwork en route to the 1:56 tally, but she had got a bit of help when race favourite Lukes Sophie made a break when making a bid for the lead in the second quarter.

Peach Martini shot to the top from Post 4 and successfully whacked out fractions of :27.3, :58.2 and 1:27.2 before storming home in :28.3 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Eagle Canada in 1:56. Magic Wheel, who sat a pocket trip throughout the mile, took home the show dough.

“This is a dream come true for myself and Stevie (Stephen Waldman), Rojan [Stables], Ricky (Rick Zeron) and the caretakers,” said co-owner Michael Katz. “I’ve been in this [business] for 25 years and never had a horse like this.”

“This is a thrill of a lifetime,” said co-owner Stephen Waldman. “The OSS program is the best. We paid her into a few other races, but Rick said all along that this is an OSS horse and that we should keep her with her company and that’s what were trying to do.”

Katz and Waldman share ownership on the filly with the Rick Zeron Stables and the Rojan Stables, and their productive performer has yet to finish worse than third in nine starts this season. She boasts a 4-4-1 record this year in addition $270,571 in purse earnings. Her lifetime bankroll climbed to $566,927 with the win.
