No Plan Intended Sizzles In Governor’s Plate Elims

No Plan Intended was the top dog in the fastest elimination of the Governor’s Plate, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge, Friday evening (July 8) at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

David Dowling was in the bike behind the Colin Johnson-trained son of Up The Credit as No Plan Intended came first-over to win his $6,000 Governor’s Plate elimination in 1:52.3, just four-fifths off the overall track record of 1:51.4 held by Y S Lotus. Carl Jamieson of Ontario and Brian Paquet of Quebec own the pacer as he punched his ticket to next Saturday’s $30,000 final. Island Beach Boy (Gilles Barrieau) was second with Beachin Lindy (Stephen Charlton) third and Rotten Ronnie (Redmond Doucet) fourth and advancing to the final.

Twin B Tuffenuff converted a pocket ride to victory in the other elimination in 1:53.2 in line to Barrieau for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Pat Morris of Charlottetown, P.E.I. Time To Dance (Marc Campbell) finished second ahead of Bugsy Maguire (Doucet) and Rose Run Quest (Adam Merner).

The $3,500 Ruby Chappell Memorial Open Mares eliminations were won by Atlantic Star (Mike McGuigan) in 1:57 and Dreamfair Zenfire (Campbell) in 1:54.2.

The Paul Langille stable was hot on the night with the trainer/driver winning three races with Rusty Riley (1:57.2), Elm Grove Quail (1:59.3) and Woodmere Marea (1:59.4).

Live racing continues on Saturday evening (July 9) at Red Shores Charlottetown with a 6:30 p.m. opening post time. Governor's Plate week racing returns Tuesday at Summerside. Post time is 6:30 p.m.
