Crown Debuts A NYSS Winner

Saratoga Raceway hosted four $38,000+ divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for two-year-old trotting colts on Friday night (July 8).

The fastest of the four divisions was won by S R F Stable's Crown, driven by Brian Sears and trained by Marcus Melander. The maiden trotter by Chapter Seven out of Amour Heiress won his first pari-mutuel start in 1:57.1 by three-quarters of a length over The Strawboss.

Sears and Melander teamed up for another NYSS score with Kilmister (Chapter Seven-Treviso) in 2:00.

The other winners were The Gruffalo (Chapter Seven-Clementine Dream) for driver Jeff Gregory and trainer Mark Harder and Met Your Request (Mets Hall-Quest Blue Chip) for the husband and wife, driver and trainer team of Andy and Julie Miller. Both two-year-olds won their divisions in 1:58.2.
