Donttouchmytruck, Surfside Beach Score In Buckeye Series

Donttouchmytruck and Surfside Beach each picked up their second win in the Buckeye Stallion Series on Sunday night (July 2) at MGM Northfield Park. 

In the first of four $20,000 divisions, Billy Davis Jr. took I Fear Nothing three-wide up the backstretch and cruised to victory in a new lifetime mark of 1:53.4 for trainer Jim Arledge Jr.  It was the third win in four starts for the Fear The Dragon gelding. Owned by Laura Baker, I Fear Nothing raised his earnings this year to $30,550. Jackjimbettynkaren was second with Iamamanatheart third.

Surfside Beach and Ryan Stahl also claimed a new lifetime mark, holding off Cruisin Jim to win in 1:52. It was the second win in four starts this year for the son of Downbytheseaside. Trained by Brian Brown, Surfside Beach crossed the $100,000 mark in earnings with the victory. He has won $106,270 for Lombardo Racing & In The Gym, Acadia Farm, VIP Internet Stable and Joe Sbrocco. Barley Mischievous was third. 

In the third division, Donttouchmytruck with Hunter Meyers held off a late charge from Quick Trick to win by a half-length in 1:51.3. Donttouchmytruck has hit the board in eight of nine starts this year, winning four for owner-trainer Judy Roegner. The son of Racing Hill has earned $38,225 this year. Tequila and Ice finished third.

In the final division, Tan Man with Aaron Merriman went wire-to-wire to win by two lengths in a new lifetime mark of 1:51.3. Cory Deyermand trains and co-owns the Downbytheseaside gelding with William Hartt and Robert Mondillo. Tan Man raised his earnings to $19,800 with his second win in nine starts this year. Tide Has Turned was second with Badger finishing third.

Leg three of the Buckeye Stallion Series wraps up Monday (July 3) at MGM Northfield Park as the sophomore colt trotters take to the track at MGM Northfield Park.
