Fans were treated to a 12-race card Thursday at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and if they backed trainer John MacMillan or driver Marc St. Louis, Jr. at the pari-mutuel windows they should have enjoyed a profitable day.

Trainer MacMillan sent out three winners while driver St. Louis mapped out five winning trips over the course of the card.

MacMillan kicked off the card with a win in the opener with Sweet Nan in a time of 1:55.3. He then captured the third race with Shallow in 1:56.4 and capped off his training triple thanks to a 1:56.1 triumph in Race 9 with Mr Contestant.

As for St. Louis, he was held off the score sheet for the first three races before striking with Western Phil (1:53.1) in Race 4. He also triumphed with Eataamsbettershark (1:54.1) in Race 6, Apeeper Hanover (1:56.2) in Race 7, Red John (1:53.3) in Race 8 and Genesee (1:54.1) in Race 11.

For MacMillan, the three-win performance pushed this year’s win total to 26 while his purse earnings climbed over $127,000. He’s won 1,651 races to date while watching his trainees bank over $9.3 million.

St. Louis has piled up 84 wins this year for a lofty UDR of .404 and earnings in excess of $281,000. To date, he’s racked up 2,158 wins for purse earnings of close to $8 million.
