Elm Grove Qwiggly went off as the second longest shot on the board in the featured Winners Over Pace at Northside Downs on Monday (July 24) evening and overcame her 11-1 odds to win.
Q Ts Charlie (Shawn Lynk) was the pacesetter as he led the field of seven through the quarter in :29.1 and half in :59.2. Elm Grove Qwiggly and Lawrence Snow rode the pocket trip until just past the half when Snow pulled his right line. Elm Grove Qwiggly took command before the three-quarters in 1:29.2 and kept on going to a two-length victory in 1:58.2. Q Ts Charlie finished second and A Better Man (Adam Lynk) was third.
The win was the first in four starts this season and eighth career victory for Elm Grove Qwiggly, a four-year-old son of Rollwithitharry owned by Snow and Henry Poswiata. Snow also trains the winner, who returned $22.90 to his backers at the betting windows.
