The "Red Rocket" was launching all night long as David Dowling made seven trips to the historic winner’s circle on Saturday evening (July 23) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Dowling opened and closed the evening with victories as he now sits with a six-race lead for top driver at Red Shores Charlottetown with 45 wins ahead of second-place Gilles Barrieau at 39 winners.
Race 1 saw a maiden score from Starship Glyde (2:00.1) for trainer Earl Watts, then Dowling failed to score wins in the next four dashes before sweeping six of the last seven races of the night. Race 6 saw the Dowling-trained and -driven Slide Guitar equal his lifetime mark, winning in 1:56.2, while Bludhaven was another winner from the Dowling barn in Race 9 in 1:57.1.
The Springvale driver found his other four victories from the Jennifer Doyle stable, as the duo scored in Race 7 with My Land (1:55.2), Race 8 with Winter Blast (1:55.3), Race 12 with Premier Joy A (1:55.3) and in the Race 11 $3,000 featured pace with Mantario (1:55.1).
