Palone Picks Up Seven

Driver Dave Palone enjoyed another banner day at The Meadows on Monday thanks to a seven-win performance on the fifteen-race program

Palone, who has long been the Kingpin of The Meadows, kicked off the card by winning the opener with the Ronnie Burke-trained Trotslikethewind in 1:55.4. He and Burke also clicked in the third race with Speed Mcqueen in a time of 1:53.2. The Kevin McDermott-trained Autumn Magic prevailed in the fifth race for Palone, who had a hat trick in his grasp with one-third of the card in the books.

He posted a natural hat trick beginning with Gia in the eighth race. The Todd Rooney trainee stopped the clock in 1:57.2. Dagnabit Hanover was Palone’s next winner in the ninth race thanks to an overpowering score in 1:55 for trainer Randy Bendis. Palone and trainer McDermott were back to victory lane in the tenth race after Sand Bird eked out a nose decision in 1:56.2.

Stradas Character completed Palone’s quest for seven wins thanks to her gate-to-wire score in the twelfth race. The Michael Stejcek pupil halted the teletimer in 1:55.1.

Palone is quickly closing in on the 400-win plateau this season, while this year’s purse total is rapidly inching towards the $5-million mark. He surpassed the 13,000 win plateau earlier this season, in addition to vaulting himself past $75-million in lifetime earnings.
