Dalhousie Dave Remains Perfect In Summertime Leg

Dalhousie Dave held off a late challenge from Classic Rock Nroll to capture the first of two $20,000 divisions in the second leg of the Summertime Pacing Series Friday night at Mohawk Racetrack

. The series is for three-year-olds that are non-winners of two races or $10,000 lifetime as of March 31.

60-1 longshot Lord Of Art and driver Luc Ouellette controlled the pace with fractions of :27.3, :56.3 before surrendering the lead to Dalhousie Dave and Jody Jamieson at the three-quarter pole in 1:25.

Dalhousie Dave used first over tactics to captured a narrow victory in a career-best 1:52.1 over Classic Rock Nroll (Mark MacDonald) and Here We Go Again (Aaron Byron).

The son of Astreos-My Precious Katie is trained by Tony O’Sullivan for Toronto's John and Jim Fielding. Dalhousie Dave paid $3.50 for his fifth consecutive win in as many starts.

Heavily favoured Outrageous Art and driver Randy Waples also scored a lifetime best in the second division of the Summertime Pacing Series.

Leaving from Post 5, Waples and Outrageous Art were positioned sixth through fractions of :26.2, :55.4, and 1:23.2. Waples then guided his charge first over around the final turn and won by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:51.1. Dreamlands Art (Rick Zeron) and Sunshine Superman (Jody Jamieson) finished second and third.

The son of Artsplace-Righteous Rene, now five-for-six in his career, is trained by Mark Steacy for Stan Klemencic, David Reid, Malik Racing Stable and Diane Bertrand. He returned $2.70 to win.

After capturing both of his Summertime Pacing Series legs, Outrageous Art will be a top candidate for the $60,000 final next Friday at Mohawk Racetrack.
