Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) announced on Wednesday that in the spirit of the 2015 Toronto Pan Am and Parapan American Games, it will partner with P4K Hub Rexdale Community Health Centre to host a 'Rexdale Summer Games' event at Woodbine Racetrack on July 28.

More than 300 children, ages 6-12, from six different camps will converge on Woodbine to compete in the Rexdale Summer Games (#RexdaleSummerGames). Each camp will represent a country in the games and flags representing these countries will be carried by a flag bearer at a symbolic opening and closing ceremonies.

The Rexdale Community Health Centre, Woodbine Entertainment Group and the Playing for Keeps Foundation have come together for the purpose of uniting community agencies throughout the Etobicoke area to celebrate and promote the upcoming 2015 Pan Am and Parapan American Games. The event will also provide the children with an opportunity to participate in a fun event that encourages friendly competition and a healthy lifestyle.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Woodbine Entertainment Group and Playing for Keeps, and we are extremely thankful to WEG for hosting this great event,” said Safia Ahmed, Executive Director of the Rexdale Community Health Centre. “We are thrilled to be engaging our community through play and providing our children with experiences and opportunities they aren’t typically given.”

WEG is the largest horse racing operator in Canada, offering world-class horse racing at both Woodbine (Toronto) and Mohawk (Milton) racetracks, and embraces the healthy competition this event will provide.

”WEG is proud of its partnerships in the community and welcomes the opportunity to lend its facilities to such a great cause,” said Nick Eaves, President and CEO of Woodbine Entertainment Group. “We love the idea of bringing the spirit of the Pan Am and Parapan American Games to the Rexdale community through this day of play.”
