Alabar Stud Farm, the leading breeding farm in the Southern Hemisphere, has recently purchased a share of Santanna Blue Chip and he will shuttle to

either their New Zealand Farm, or their Australian Base in Northern Victoria in September.

Alabar’s investment in the stallion will also apply when Santanna Blue Chip returns to Ontario in 2011.

The principal owners of Santanna Blue Chip are the highly respected Ontario Horsemen Carl and Jody Jamieson and Jeffrey Gillis. Both Jody Jamieson and Jeff Gillis are delighted that a major breeding farm in the Southern Hemisphere has shown such confidence in his potential as a stallion to become partners in the horse in both Hemispheres.

John Coffey, The General Manager of Alabar Australia, recently visited Canada and left Toronto full of enthusiasm for Santanna Blue Chip.

“I loved the look of Santanna Blue Chip the first time I saw him at Carl Jamieson’s farm in late May 2008. I can understand why Jody and Jeff took an instant liking to him at the 2006 Harrisburg Sales", said Coffey. "I was even more impressed with the horse after seeing some of his foals in Ontario – they were strong types with lots of presence” said Coffey.

Santanna Blue Chip is not only one of the richest two year olds to have graced North American harness racing, but he will join a very select group of only three stallions standing in the Southern Hemisphere to have earned over $900,000 in their two-year-old season. Santanna Blue Chip was the richest 2-year-old pacer of 2007, capturing both the Breeders Crown and the Governor's Cup.
