Trot Insider has learned that elimination winner OK Commander has been scratched from this Saturday's $1 million Meadowlands Pace

.

Reportedly lame after his 1:47.4 elimination win, an abscess was found on his right front foot and trainer Gregg McNair was able to get that under control to be ready for Saturday. Unfortunately, the colt was hooked up to jog this morning and wasn't fit to compete.

As the next fastest fourth-place finisher, Delmarvalous will take OK Commander's place in the final. Driver Brian Sears piloted both Delmarvalous and Nova Artist and will choose between these two pacers.

The draw for harness racing's second million dollar pacing race of the season comes up at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14.

Commendable move by McNair. All the best in the future.
Wish other trainers, etc. showed the same class and did not race their horses when they are not 100% and more susceptible to injury no matter what the stakes are for the welfare of the horse. Also as a longtime bettor, would be disappointed betting on a sub par horse.

There is lots of purse money still out there. Probably a blessing in disguise that its only an abscess. Hpe for a speedy recovery

Sorry to hear about O.K. Commander, he a class act and has become one of our favorites to watch! I also agree Mcnair is a class act for knowing when to walk away from the dance. Good luck to both with there futures!

The elimination was stirring and one can only believe that OK Commander would have been right there in the final. Man, you hate to see the whole team not get a shot at the Pace, but there will be another, healthy, day to race

It's too bad that Commander isnt racing in the final!!
He had a great shot to win it all.

Kudos to Greg Mcnair though...There are not too many trainers nowadays who would walk away from a race like the Meadowlands Pace for the sake of the health of the horse.
