Mando Fun In Summerside Feature

Published: June 3, 2018 04:48 pm EDT

Mando Fun utilized a first-over brush to gain the lead late in the mile in the featured event at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway and found his way to the winner’s circle on Sunday (June 3).

Kenny Arsenault engineered the winning score in 1:57 after having acquired the lead from favoured Confident Fella (driven by Marc Campbell) past the three-quarters pole.

Confident Fella cut out the early fractions, but had to settle for second, while Heart And Soul (Walter Cheverie) grabbed the show prize. Mando Fun is co-owned and trained by Paul Biggar of Tyne Valley for co-owner Donald Callbeck of Kensington.

Salmonier Storm and trainer/driver Ambyr Campbell captured the $1,900 back-up pace with a front-end score in 1:58.1 for owner Brian MacPhee of Clyde River. Second went to One Hot Camshaft (Ken Murphy) with Coasttocoastshark (Devon Wallace) completing the $712.30 triactor ticket.

Race 3 saw an accident past the five-eighths pole, as W C Kenzie Cookie (Devon Wallace) made a break in stride on the front-end and interfered with multiple horses, including Camco Willow (Austin Sorrie), who fell to the racing surface. Both Camco Willow and Sorrie were able to walk away from the incident unscathed.

Live racing at Red Shores Summerside continues next Sunday, June 10, at 1 p.m. Check out redshores.ca for race replays and more.
