Fraser Downs wrapped up its 2022 Summer Meet on Monday evening, and it was a card that was dominated by the tandem of driver Brandon Campbell and trainer Jim Marino.

Campbell notched five wins on the 13-race card, and trainer Jim Marino was responsible for supplying three of them.

Moosette was one of those winners, and she did so in the $7,000 Fillies & Mares Open.  The five-year-old daughter of Hes Watching-Legal Suspensory kicked home in :28.1 to rally to the win by three-quarters of a length over stablemate Western Summit in 1:54.  Mystic Shadow was third.

Shale Stables of Merritt, B.C. owns the 19-time winner who has picked up seven of those wins this season.  She boasts a 7-7-1 record from 17 trips to the track this year, and that’s good for more than $52,000 in season earnings.  To date, she’s salted away close to $140,000 in earnings.

In the co-featured $7,000 Open for horses and geldings it was Kootenay Santanna going down the road for an eye-catching score in 1:51.3 for driver David Kelly and trainer Kyle Chadwick.

Kelly rolled the four-year-old son of Santanna Blue Chip-Kootenay Mystic through fractions of :26.3, :56.1 and 1:23.3 before using a closing quarter of :28 to seal the deal.  He won by 1-1/4 lengths over Armycaptin Hanover.  Third prize went to Buddys Hope.

Kootenay Santanna improved this year’s record to 6-5-1 from 13 tries for owner/breeder Robert Chadwick of Surrey, B.C.  The 13-time winner lifted his lifetime earnings to $151,040 with the win.

As for the dash leaders in the training and driving categories, it was Brandon Campbell who claimed the driving title thanks to a 70-win season.  He prevailed over fellow reinsmen Kelly Hoerdt (64 wins) and Kelly Hoerdt (51 wins).

On the training side, it was Jim Marino posting a 64-win season while raking in close to $430,000 in purse earnings with horses from his stable.  Kelly Hoerdt (56 wins) enjoyed another solid season along with Rod Therres (37 wins).
